China considering further tightening of steel export policy

Mr Luo Bingsheng secretary general of China Iron & Steel Association disclosed on April 19th 2008 that China is mulling over stricter policies on curbing steel export.

According to Mr Luo, China would take harsher measures once steel export rebounds, not telling when it will be.

He said that in first quarter 2008 China's apparent steel consumption reached 117.2 million tonnes up by a 13.9% YoY and the consumption growth may come down later this year.
