Shanxi eying another coke price hike of CNY 300 per tonne

It is reported that Shanxi Province is planning to increase coke price after a latest price hike of another CNY 300 per tonne. Total price advances in this month amount to CNY 600 per tonne. EXW price for second grade metallurgical coke is now offered at CNY 2950 per tonne.

As per report, coke price rose by CNY 300 per tonne in early June. Many enterprises have just finished signing agreements when coke producers want another CNY 300 per tonne advance.

Some steelmakers reveal they have not gained any announcement while some others have to accept the price loathly due to low inventory level.

Coke supply now becomes tighter on account of insufficient coal supply and market rumor of future coal price hikes. Steelmakers report difficult coke purchasing and have no choice but to accept the coke price rise to replenish resources.
