Vietnam coal output in July may up by 4.7% YoY
According to the Vietnam’s general statistics office data, Vietnam's coal production is likely to rise by 4.7% YoY to 3.51 million tonnes in July 2008. The figure would also represent a 25.4% MoM rise from the 2.80 million tonnes produced in June 2008.
The statistics office said that Vietnam is estimated to have exported 1.35 million tonnes of coal valued at USD 110 million in July 2008, down by 43.4% YoY in volume terms but up by 44.7% YoY in value.
Electricity output in July 2008 is projected to have risen by 6.6% YoY to 6.5 billion kilowatt hours. In June 2008, Vietnam produced 6.7 billion kWh of electricity.
The general statistics office usually issues coal and electricity figures before the end of the reporting period, based on estimates.
