BHPB awards AUD 50 million construction project to Macmahon

It is reported that Macmahon has been awarded an AUD 50 million contract for construction work at Port Hedland, in Western Australia by diversified mining giant BHP Billiton Iron Ore.

The contract formed part of BHP’s recently announced Rapid Growth Projects 5 (RGP5) for the Pilbara iron ore project and involved preliminary construction work to facilitate dredging at Finucane Island.

The work would include seawall construction, including the replacement of 750,000m3 of armour rock and new containment ponds for the dredge material.
