According to SSY’s Australian Coal Port Congestion Index, average delays are now 9.93 days, the highest since June 2008.
Congestion at Australia’s coal ports has contributed to the recent upward movement in freight rates with coal rates from Queensland and New South Wales to Rotterdam up by 3% and 5% respectively from 4 weeks ago.
