PNTZ produces its first batch of couplings for tubing and casing

It is reported that about 1000 couplings for tubing and casing within the commissioning at the coupling area of the Finishing Centre at Pervouralsk New Pipe Plant, which is part of the CHTPZ Group.

The line for threading of couplings at the PNTZ Finishing Centre is fully automatic and includes all technological operations from cutting a coupling billet to putting finished products into baskets. Planned capacity of the area is 1mln couplings a year.

The Finishing Centre Project is now being implemented at PNTZ since March, 2007 and is aimed at creating new facilities for production of oil-field pipes, such as tubing, including ones with upset ends, casing and oil and gas line pipes.

The capacities of the Finishing Centre include the coupling area, the line for heat treatment of pipes, the area for the pipe end upset, the area for non-destructive testing of pipes and the area for threading of tubing and casing. The value of the project amounts to EUR 122 million. Industrial production with new capacities will start in the 1st quarter 2009.
