Scorpion Offshore has announced that it received a letter of intent for its new build rig, offshore intrepid, chartered by Odfjell Drilling Services.
Scorpion Offshore in a statement said that the LOI was issued by Al Khafji Joint Operations to Odfjell Drilling Services for operations in the Persian Gulf beginning second quarter 2009. The contract, which is expected to be signed in the next 2 weeks, will run for 41 months.
Offshore Intrepid, Scorpion’s fifth rig, is currently being constructed at Keppel AmFELS in Brownsville, Texas and is scheduled for delivery on January 24th 2009.
