
CoalCorp Mining Inc has announced that Ms Luisa Fernanda Lafaurie has been appointed to its board of directors, effective immediately. Ms Lafaurie's appointment remains subject to regulatory approval.
Ms Lafaurie currently is a consultant on the management, formulation and implementation of financial and corporate strategies and serves on a number of boards of Colombian and Brazilian enterprises, including Fondo de Inversion Petrolera, Tejido Humano, Carulla SA, ISA, AVIANCA and CTEEP. She has served, since 2004, as the chairwoman of Oleoducto Central de Colombia, Colombia's 850 kilometres long oil pipe line connecting the crude oil production fields of Cusiana and Cupiagua with the port of Covenas in the Caribbean Sea.
Previously, Ms. Lafaurie has served as both the minister and deputy minister of mines & energy for Colombia and was employed for a number of years, in increasingly senior positions, with Carbocol, the Colombian government owned company created for the administration of the country's coal resources, in particular the Cerrejón North Zone Association Contract. She holds degrees in Economics and in Finance, and an MBA, from Colombian universities.
CoalCorp also announced that Mr Luis Carlos Valenzuela has resigned as a director of the company. It added that the firm wishes to thank Mr Valenzuela for his service and dedication to the company and wishes him well in his future endeavors.
