Reuters reported that Kuwaiti state employees often stage strikes for better salaries which are usually settled quickly.
A labor union in the world's seventh largest oil exporter Kuwait has called on all port workers to go on a strike on March 2.
It was unclear how many workers are expected to go on strike and what the actual impact could be on the country's over 2 million barrels per day of crude and fuel exports.
Kuwaiti state employees often stage strikes asking for better salaries which are usually settled quickly without much impact on operations. Kuwait has 200,000 barrels per day refinery at Shuaiba.
The statement said that "The Workers Union of Kuwait Ports Authority has decided to stage a total strike in all ports and its sectors on last Monday March 2."
The paper said that the strike will take effect in Shuwaikh, Shuaiba and Doha ports.
Officials at the union and state oil firm Kuwait National Petroleum Company were not immediately available for comment.
