TradeArabia reported that Tamkeen has invited the Bahrain’s SMEs active in the construction industry to take advantage of its growth assistance program and participate in the gulfBID 2009 expo.

The exhibition, taking place at the Bahrain International Exhibition centre from May 5th to May 9th, caters to the building and interiors industry.

Mr Mohammed Bucheery private sector support senior manager of Tamkeen said that “Bahrain’s construction industry has traditionally been a thriving platform for SMEs and we are keen that these entrepreneurial businesses should take advantage of our GAP initiative to win exposure and new clients and interact with other companies in the industry.”

Mr Bucheery said that “Tamkeen will co-finance the participation fees for the SMEs wishing to join the exhibitor list at this event and they can be part of the Tamkeen pavilion.”

It is important for companies to track trends and network with other organizations to make the most of business opportunities. Enabling the participation of construction industry SMEs in gulfBID 2009 is part of Tamkeen’s larger game plan to promote growth among Bahraini entrepreneurs.

Tamkeen’s Enterprise Development Scheme allows SMEs to stimulate their development and growth by underwriting or assisting technological, management and administrative upgrades, training and also enabling access to world class consultants who can advise the SMEs on future plans. The work of the Tamkeen is funded by fees collected by the LMRA from companies employing expatriates.

SMEs wishing to take advantage of the offer need to be Bahrain based and at least 51% Bahraini owned and must meet LMRA’s Bahrainisation quota.

The SMEs will be selected for participation by Tamkeen on a first come, first serve basis.

Mr Bucheery said that “With Bahrain forging ahead as a reliable and strategic regional partner for the Northern Gulf’s realty industry that involves top quality construction and interiors services, we are keen that Bahrain SMEs should avail of opportunities at gulfBID 2009 to boost business for themselves and spread Bahrain’s fine reputation for top quality service. We want to see more and more Bahraini SMEs participating in trade exhibitions or opening representative offices.”
