Scorpion Intrepid docks at Lamprell yard in Hamriyah

Pipeline Dubai reported that UAE Rig major, Lamprell celebrated a major milestone on April 20th with the docking of Scorpion Intrepid, the first ever rig to dock at Lamprell’s new 250,000 square kilometers custom built rig facility inside Hamriyah Free Zone.
As per report, the newly built Scorpion Intrepid was recently completed at AmFels Yard in Brownsville, Texas and was transported to the UAE on the dry transporter Dockwise Treasure.
After mobilization works at the Lamprell facility, the Le Tourneau Super 116E design rig will mobilize to the neutral zone at Al Khafji to commence a 4 year contract for Khafji Joint Operations.
Meanwhile preparations are nearing completion for the Official naming ceremony on April 28th; of Lamprell’s first new build Drilling Jack Up, Offshore Freedom and another Scorpion unit which was built at Lamprell’s Hamriyah facility.
A further Scorpion newbuild, Offshore Mischief will be delivered from the Hamriyah facility early in 2010.
