It is reported that Anhui Province lately releases its steel industry revitalization plan effective from 2009 to 2011 with the influence spreading to 2020.
Anhui plans to realize crude steel capacity of 32 million tonnes per year by 2011 with quality & special steel ratio to surpass 60% of the total among which, Maanshan Steel is expected to fulfill a capacity of 20 million tonnes per year and a sales revenue of CNY 100 billion. And, to 2020, the provincial crude steel capacity is hoped to reach 50 million tonnes per year while Maanshan Steel's sales revenue to reach CNY 300 billion.
During the span of the plan, Maanshan Steel is required to enhance industrial centralization and eliminate backward steelmaking facilities, and will be supported by Government to take M&A insider or outside the province, aiming to build the mill as a characteristic quality & special steel production base.
