The Mexican national statistics bureau INEGI said that Mexico’s GDP in Q1 decreased by 8.2% YoY as compared to the same period of last year and by 5.88% QoQ as compared to the previous quarter.
The bureau said that GDP of secondary activities decreased 9.9% as the manufacturing industry declined by 13.8% and the construction industry fell by 7.7%. Electricity, water and gas to end users went down 3% and mining dropped 1.1%.
It added that agricultural activity was the one sector which defied the negative trend, increasing by 1.4% in Q1 compared to last year’s Q1.
