RZD-Partner reported citing the company's sources during the first 5 months of 2009 Russian Railways reduced the cargo turnover by 16.5% to 862.7 billion tariffs per tonne per kilometer against prior year figures.
In May the figures moved down 12.8% to 182.8 billion tariff per tonne per kilometer. The loading declined 24.9% to 428.3 million tonnes to compare with last year in May down by 20.3% to 91.5 million tonnes.
The coal shipment reduced 17% to 107 million tonnes; coke down by 38.3% to 3.4 million tonne; oil and petroleum derivatives down by 3.6% to 94.9 million tonne; ore down by 21.7% to 36.2 million tonne; metals down by 33.5% to 24.6 million tonne fertilizers down by 19.5% to 15.9 million tonnes.
RZD was set up in 2003 on the basis of the communications ministry. 100% are held by the state. The share capital is worth RUB 1.54 trillion split in 1541697819 common stocks of RUB 1000 par.
The 2007-net profit rose 3.69 fold to reach RUB 144.9 million from RUB 139.8 million. In 2008 the cargo transportation moved down 3% to RUB 1.3 billion against prior year; the cargo turnover being up 5% to 2.42tril tariff per tonne kilometer.
In 2008 the net profit under RAS declined 6.3 fold to RUB 13.4 billion from RUB 84.46 billion prior year, revenues being up 12.9% to RUB 1.102 trillion.
