
According to the data released by the Republic of Kazakhstan’s Agency of Statistics, in the first five months of 2009 the country registered a 19.3% decrease in its crude steel production and an 8.1% decrease in its production of flat rolled steel all compared to the data for January to May 2008.
The respective figures in tonnes were 1.563 million and 1.234 million.
During the first five months of 2009, Kazakhstan output of ferroalloys went down by 30.6%YoY to 503,751 tonnes.
