SMS Meer announced that it has won an order from Wuxi Turbine Blade Co Limited, a subsidiary of the Shanghai Electric Group for a clutch operated screw press SPKA 22400.
With a hard on hard blow force of 355 MN, a gross power of 10,000 kJ and a weight of 2,900 tonnes, the press is already the second clutch operated screw press of this size and with these performance data from SMS Meer.
By investing in the new press, Wuxi Turbine Blade Co Limited wishes to distinctly increase its production volume of forged parts for gas and steam turbines. From 2011 it wishes to supply the Chinese aerospace industry with forged parts of high alloy steel, titanium and nickel based alloys.
The clutch operated screw press SPKA 22400 is by now the third screw press being supplied by SMS Meer to Wuxi Turbine Blade. A hydraulic screw press HSPRZ 630 with an 80 MN hard on hard blow force was supplied already at the end of the 1970s and a clutch operated screw press SPKA 11200 with a 180 MN hard on hard blow force in 1994.
