Interfax-China reported that a 650,000 tonnes secondary aluminum alloy processing facility jointly invested by the Aluminum Corporation of China and Beijing Xinheng Group is up and running.
According to Qinghai Daily, the secondary aluminum alloy processing facility is located in Xining City capital city of northwestern China's Qinghai Province and mainly utilizes imported scrap aluminum and natural gas to produce secondary aluminum alloy.
The report said total investment into the joint venture amounted to CNY 8.6 billion.
Mr Li Yang an analyst from Beijing Antaike Information said that the total secondary aluminum alloy production capacity of the Xining facility stands at only 250,000 tonnes annually at this first phase of production. Chinalco declined to comment when contacted by Interfax on the same day.
Beijing Xinheng Group is a metals trader and is also involved in the hospitality and real estate sectors.
