Reuters reported that Brazilian steelmaker Cia Siderurgica Nacional has hired 1,200 workers at its Volta Redonda plant following signs the market is recovering.
CSN official said that "It identified signs of improvement in demand." He added that the Volta Redonda blast furnace in Rio de Janeiro state would reach 90% of capacity by July.
Of the total hires, 800 will be contractors and 400 will be hired by the company. CSN late last year cut 1,300 jobs as the global economic crisis cut into demand for steel.
