American Iron & Steel Industries reported that, in the week ending June 20th 2009, US domestic raw steel production was 1.133 million tons while the capability utilization rate was 47.5%. Production was 2.154 million tons in the week ending June 20th 2008, while the capability utilization then was 90.3%. The current week production represents a 47.4% YoY decrease from the same period in the previous year.
Production for the week ending June 20th 2009 is down by 0.5% WoW from the previous week ending June 13th 2009 when production was 1.139 million tons and the rate of capability utilization was 47.7%.
Adjusted year to date production through June 20th 2009 was 25.357 million tons, at a capability utilization rate of 43.3%. That is a 51.2% YoY decrease from the 52.778 million tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 90.5%.
