Tracing back to the report “MEP call of Rizhao Steel” carried on Mysteel.net on June 15, the relevant news come out that Rizhao Steel is only asked to stop the construction of new facilities, but the mill can continue the productions on the facilities, which have already been put into operations, yet need to pass MEP’s check.
The steelmaker has suspended the building of 2150mm HR strip lines, however, the operations of other facilities are still working on, Zhao Yongqin, director of secretaries from Rizhao Steel revealed.
A source close to the mill said that MEP made a different resolution to Rizhao Steel from Weifang Steel, which was ordered to stop all buildings and productions involved in its 5 million tonne per year project.
As to the acquisition of Shandong Steel, Wang Lifei, vice GM of Rizhao Steel said that “We are making contact with Shandong Steel, under Govs’ arrangements.”
According to local private companies, they pins close attentions to what will happen on Rizhao Steel, since the destiny of Rizhao is believed closer to theirs.
