BL reported that construction work at the Jindal Steel and Power’s Greenfield integrated steel project in Orissa is in full swing. The project located close to Angul is being developed on around 4,000 acres.
Mr Vikrant Gujral chairman & CEO of JSPL in response to a query on its status said “Site leveling and civil work is in full swing and we hope to commission the plant by the financial year 2011-12.”
Mr Gujral said it is currently working towards the first phase of the project, where the capacity is slated to be 2 units of 2 million tonne each.
He said ultimately, its capacity will be 6.5 million tonne expandable to 12.5 million tonne, adding that for the project, going forward, the company may acquire more land.
