Monday, 29 Jun 2009

Projects Today reported that the Asian Development Bank is likely to provide loans worth USD 200 million to 5 northeast states for improving the urban infrastructure.

However, the funds are expected to be used to enhance the basic infrastructure like water supply and sanitation in Shillong (Meghalaya), Aizawl (Mizoram), Kohima (Nagaland), Gangtok (Sikkim) and Agartala (Tripura).

The ADB board has approved the multi tranche financing facility for the North Eastern Region Capital Cities Development Investment Program.

According to sources, the union and state Governments are also to provide an additional USD 85.7 million.
