It is reported that Tokyo Steel Mfg Co put out a total of 148,000 tonnes of crude steel from the company's four works in May 2009, up by 7,000 tonnes from a month ago, which indicates a production cutback beyond 50% as compared with peak production in August 2008.
In the breakdown by works, Okayama accounted for 63,000 tonnes, Kyushu 59,000 tonnes, Takamatsu 12,000 tonnes and Utsunomiya 15,000 tonnes.
For the month under review, crude steel production volumes from the nation's other major electric steelmakers were Asahi Industries Co with 32,000 tonnes, Kyoei Steel Limited with 123,000 tonnes, Godo Steel Limited with 68,000 tonnes, JFE Bars & Shapes Corporation with 109,000 tonnes and Tokyo Tekko Co with 36,000 tonnes.
