THE Port of Rotterdam authority has included three Russian ports in this year’s list of the 20 biggest ports in Europe, rated on cargo volume in 2008.
According to a report, making the grade are Novorossiysk on the Black Sea, Primorsk near St Petersburg and St Petersburg itself.
Rotterdam also rates Europe’s Top 20 container ports, which includes only one Russian port St Petersburg (in 14th place) with a container throughput of 1.9 million TEUs in 2008.
Novorossiysk is the sixth-largest European port with a throughput of 81 million tons, Primorsk port is rated the 8th with a throughput of 75 million tons and St Petersburg port is rated the 11th with a throughput of 60 million tonnes in 2008.
