Qatar and Poland sign LNG pact
Thursday, 02 Jul 2009

Menafn reported that Qatargas signed a Sales and Purchase Agreement with Polish oil and gas firm to supply liquefied natural gas to Poland with the first delivery due in 2014.

Under the 20 year agreement, Qatargas will supply 1 million tonnes per annum of LNG to government owned Polskie Gornictwo Naftowe Gazownictwo S.A.

The first shipment to Poland is scheduled for 2014 after the completion of the LNG terminal in Swinoujscie, north-western Poland. The terminal will be receiving the cargo using the new Q-Flex class of vessels. The Polish firm plans to use the LNG to supply mainly industry, chemical companies, commercial power companies and users.

It is worth mentioning that Qatargas is currently implementing a major expansion program and had commissioned its Train 4 this year. The firm expects to see a rise of LNG output from 10 million tonne per annum last year to 42 million tonne per annum by the end of the decade.
