The Russian mining and steel producer Evraz Group has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the state owned machine building plant UralVagonZavod.

Under the MoU Evraz will provide UVZ on a priority basis with steel products used in machine building, while UVZ will purchase on a priority basis the steel products of Evraz.

Furthermore, within the scope of the memorandum of cooperation, the companies are to constantly exchange information about current and promising production possibilities, changes in demand and requirements for supplied products.

In particular, Evraz’s Nizhny Tagil Iron and Steel Works has recently completed the last stage of the reconstruction of its wheel rolling shop and is expecting to obtain the certificate of compliance for wheels of increased hardness from Certification Register on Federal Railway Transport. This will allow Evraz to supply UVZ with railroad wheels, produced with the most modern technology and meeting very high quality standards, which will also be suitable for use on high speed railways and in the conditions of the Far North.
