Corus staff visits Sheffield school to teach about steel recycling

It is reported that staff from industrial giant Corus visited Sheffield school Hunters Bar Juniors to explain how all sorts of steel can be recycled too.
Ms Nicola Bennett from Corus was invited to the school by teacher Ms Shirley Harrison to help the children in their work on recycling and sustainability.
Last year, 6 youngsters at Hunters Bar have introduced a recycling program in school and have learned about paper recycling in particular. But Ms Shirley believed it was important for pupils to learn about steel recycling because of Sheffield's industrial heritage.
Ms Nicola said that she was delighted to be able to meet the next generation of environmentalists. She added that "Sustainability and the environment play an ever more important role in day to day life and will play an even bigger role in generations to come. We believe that educating students is the key to securing a sustainable future and it was good to hear the views of Sheffield's future voices."
Ms Shirley said that "It is essential for the children to learn about steel recycling as Sheffield is such a large industrial city that produces great quantities of steel. The workshop was enormously beneficial for the pupils and they will definitely continue to undertake various informative, recycling themed activities."
