According to the report on July 6th, Baosteel's 780 MPa super high strength steel sheet passed the certification by Nissan Head Office, symbolizing that Baosteel has got the qualification to provide this product to Dongfeng Nissan and furthermore has the hope to supply this product to Guangzhou Toyota and Guangzhou Honda, thus breaking the Japanese cars' reliance on import for super high strength steel.

Baosteel is the earliest enterprise to research and develop high strength automotive sheets in China and the grade of products has been improving in recent years. After Baosteel successfully developed and commercialized the new generation 780MPa super high strength steel sheet, the product has been used in the new car models developed by Shanghai GM and Shanghai VW, considerably elevating the general manufacture level of Chinese automobile industry.

Now high strength and light weight steel has become the first choice of automakers. The international award winning car models generally use around 70% high strength steel while the percentage of high strength steel used by domestic European, American, Japanese and self owned brand new car models also increases year by year.
