Coal imports doubled in H1 in China Guangdong province

According to statistics from Huangpu Customs in Guangzhou city, Guangdong province imported a total of 11 million tonnes of coal in H1 of the year with a total value of USD 750 million surging by 100% and 110% respectively compared with the same period of last year. The average import price remained at USD 63.9 per tonne same as in H1 of last year.

Coal import volume has started to increase early from the beginning of the year, and in Feb it reached the highest monthly level since 2008. Henceforth, it has continued to rise month by month. Over 6 million tonnes of coal was imported from ASEAN countries up by 16% and taking up over 50% of total import volume.
