The United States Energy Information Administration estimated that US coal production totaled approximately 20.7 million short tons in the week ended July 18th 2009
As estimated by the EIA from data on railroad car loadings, US coal production estimate is approximately 3.8% higher than last week’s estimate, and 8.5% lower than the production estimate in the comparable week in 2008.
During the week, production east of the Mississippi River totaled 8.6 million short tons and production west of the Mississippi River totaled 12 million short tons.
