Thursday, 30 Jul 2009

It is reported that Yangzhou based Dayang Shipbuilding Co Ltd completed China’s first power saving bulk carrier days ago and named it as “Crown 58K” which was built with 30,000 tonnes of ship plates made by Wuyang Steel a subsidiary of Hebei Steel.

Wuyang Steel signed long time strategic cooperation agreement with Dayang Shipbuilding this March promising to provide at least 12,000 tonnes of ship plates per month to the partner with the first supply period fixed at 6 months. And till June the steelmaker had accumulatively delivered over 60,000 tonnes of ship plates to the shipbuilder.

As per report, Wuyang Steel’s ship plates have passed the tests of nine national classification societies, such as CCS, LR, ABS, BV, RINA, GL, DNV, KR. The mill can produce over 0.5 million tonnes per year of high strength ship plates and is holding steady supply relations with 6 shipbuilders.
