BNamericas quoted Mr Philip Asherman president & CEO of Texas based energy EPC company CB&I as saying that South America is one region concentrating energy investments.
Mr Asherman said that "We continue to see the vast majority of capital investment in energy infrastructure concentrated in Asia Pacific, South America and the Middle East."
He added that Central and South America represent 13% of CB&I's end market. Works CB&I is participating in South America include the GNL Quintero LNG project in Chile and Colombian state oil company Ecopetrol's Cartagena refinery expansion.
Mr Lasse Petterson COO of CB&I said that "CB&I is in the process of commissioning the vaporization system and is awaiting direction from the client to send natural gas to the grid. The design utilizes a small, intermediate LNG tank which allows the project to be operational a year early. The two, main 150,000 cubic meters tanks are on schedule for completion in the second half of next year."
He added that "In Colombia, we are working to complete the FEED phase of the Reficar refinery project in Cartagena, and we are currently doing civil works at the site in preparation for the EPC phase of the project."
Other projects in which CB&I is participating in the region include Petroterminal de Panama's pipeline flow reversal project, an LPG marine terminal in Ecuador, a FCCU revamp for Trinidad & Tobago's state oil company Petrotrin and Peru LNG's export project.
