Projects Today reported that the union ministry of coal has given its approval to Adhunik Alloys & Power Limited plea seeking enhancement of share in the North Dhadhu coal block in Jharkhand.
Apart from AAPL, this coal block has been allocated for joint development, to Electrosteel Castings, Jharkhand Ispat and Pawanjay Steel & Power with equity participations of 49%, 17.5%, 20% and 13.5% respectively.
Adhunik had requested for allocation of the North Dhadhu for meeting the feedstock requirements of its proposed sponge iron plant of 4x350 tonne per day capacity, mini blast furnace of 0.3 million tonne per annum integrated steel plant of 0.3 million tonne per annum and a 25 MW power plant at Kandra in the Saraikela-Kharswan district of Jharkhand.
APPL has been lobbying for revised entitlements, claiming that an envisaged long term linkage, allocated earlier by the MoC was subsequently cancelled. The linkage has assured the company a supply of 96,000 tonne per annum. Therefore, the ministry has decided to enhance the share of AAPL from 43 million tonne to 50 million tonne in this block.
