The Karachi Port Trust with the help of the Port Qasim Authority and the Pakistan Navy successfully rescued a container vessel, MSC Aurelie which had grounded near the navigational channel of the Karachi Port.
The gearless Panamanian flag carrier beached while carrying at least 1,717 TEUs after the ship master apparently lost control of the situation.
At least 5 pusher tugs, Taqatwar, Shehzore and Bahadur of KPT, Delair of PN and Deebal of PQA took part in the operation which was supervised by KPT chairperson Mr Nasreen Haque from Karachi Port Operation Centre.
