Novokuznetsk Steel develops rails for Mass Rapid Transit of Moscow and Saint-Petersburg

It is reported that Novokuznetsk steel works, which is owned by Evraz Group, has made the first trial lot of improved working strength rails for Mass Rapid Transit of Moscow and Saint-Petersburg.

As per report, rails with high chrome content obtain special mechanical properties. This alloy provides improving of contact endurance strength of steel and respectively increases rail’s life.

The trial lot has been sent to the consumers for testing including performance tests in the Mass Rapid Transit systems as well as to stand tests at Pan-Russian Research and Development Institute for Railway Transport.
