Monday, 07 Sep 2009

Arab Steel reported that Saudi Al-Tuwairqi Group expects that the steel complex it owns at Dammam will come on stream by the end of 2010.

This complex comprises a new mill to produce steel billets with a production capacity of 2 million tones per year which will be added to the present production capacity in the company's mill at Dammam which is 1 million tones per year, so that the production capacity of billets will be 3 million tones per year as of 2010.

With coming on stream of the new billet mill, the company will completely depend on its billet production to cover all its needs of this material, most of which was imported from the world markets.

The new complex to be set up by Al-Tuwairqi Group at Dammam comprises a palletizing unit, direct reduction unit and a meltshop. The name given to this mill is the Arab Iron and Steel Company.

On the other hand, the sales of Al Ittifaq Company a subsidiary of Al Tuwairqi Group have shown a noticeable improvement during the first months of this year. The volume of the sales amounted to approximately 1.1 million tonnes of rebars.
