Finnish Stainless steel giant OutoKumpu announced that it will mainly focus on high end application segment in India by supplying its premium-grade steel to coming up challenging industrial projects including nuclear energy, Oil and gas, chemical processing industries , coastal bridges and desalination plants where anti corrosive elements play a key role.
Mr YPS Suri head of OutoKumpu India said “Currently the overall demand level for industrial segment stainless steel in India is around 400000 tonnes. The demand for Industrial grades is set to grow 4 times in the next 8 years to 10 years. In the absence of domestic capability to manufacture high end products including duplex and super duplex range of stainless steel for hostile Industrial applications, Outokumpu has a major role to play in India.”
Mr Suri added that “Domestic players have a limited range of product grades available in smaller width only as compared to the wide coils and a big range of grades being offered by Outokumpu and other global Stainless steel majors.”
He said that “Outokumpu, being the oldest and one of the largest with global leadership in product innovation and application, Outokumpu brings immense value to the end users in the Indian markets. India is the second fastest growing economy in the world with a very strong growth in demand for special grades and sizes of stainless steel products for infrastructure development, Oil & Gas, Nuclear energy, chemical processing industries, the transport sector, building and construction.”
Mr Suri also said that “OutoKumpu has already set up a warehousing facility in Mumbai for fulfilling small quantity orders for specific needs of India’s biggest end user segment small and medium enterprises as part of company’s strategy to offer service with reliability and the right product.”
Mr Suri added that “Besides offering supply thru Outokumpu’s warehouse in Mumbai, We also help the customers gain competitive advantage by proper selection of the appropriate grade of stainless steel for each application and offer traceability of the Outokumpu product up to the manufacturing stages.”
