Reuters reported that China CNOOC Ltd offshore gas field Huizhou 21-1 has resumed normal productions after being forced to shut down for three weeks by a typhoon. However, adjacent oilfields remained closed because of storm damage.
CNOOC said in a statement that the Huizhou oilfields were shut on September 14th because of Typhoon Koppu which damaged its single point mooring system and forced the evacuation of its floating production and storage facility.
According to the report the fields jointly operated by CACT group, Italy Eni and US major Chevron Corp produce more than 40,000 barrels per day of oil at normal rates.
A CNOOC investor relations official said she was not aware of a timeline yet for the resumption of operations.
CNOOC said Huizhou 21-1 gas fields, operated by the same foreign oil group began pumping at the pre storm level of 45 million cubic feet per day on October 5th. The fields were located at Pearl River Mouth basin in the South China Sea, 120 miles southeast of Hong Kong.
