It is reported that Taipei Port Container Terminal is expected to open berths number 3 and 4 in 2010, after its first two berths officially began operations in March with a combined annual container handling capacity of 1.1 million TEU.

As per repot, berth 3 is expected to open in June 2010, followed by berth 4 by the end of 2010. It also plans to develop a total of 7 berths by 2014, with an estimated aggregate annual box handling capacity of 4 million TEU.

The total quay length is envisioned to measure 2,366 metres on a site covering 110 hectares of reclaimed land in Danshui, which lies 20 kilometers from the capital Taipei.

Taiwanese shipping lines Evergreen, Wan Hai and Yang Ming each hold stakes of 50%, 40% and 10%, respectively, in TPCT. Total investment in the terminal development project is said to be USD 600 million on a 50 year build operate transfer.
