
According to National Unemployment Agency data, the number of the unemployed in Romania reached 625,000 in September, the highest number since April 2004.
As per data, the unemployment rate rise to 6.9% in September, up from 6.6% in August. In comparison, the unemployment rate was 3.9% in September 2008.
The highest unemployment rate was registered in Mehedinti county in southwestern Romania, with 12.8%, followed by Vaslui, with 12.7%, while lowest rate was in Bucharest, with 2% and Ilfov county, with 2.1%.
