Slowdown signs - Russian imports in 8 months down by 44pct
Itar-Tass quoted the Federal Customs Service said Russia imports dipped 43.8% to USD 99.3 billion in January to August 2009 including USD 12.8 billion from CIS member countries and USD 86.4 billion from other states.
Prime Tass said the smaller cost of imports resulted from the reduced physical amount of the supplied commodities, while prices did not change much.
