It is reported that Chinese domestic price for SiMn stays firm yet with dull sales. Most producers mainly maintain regular customers. Imported Mn ore price remains stable without any substantial drop, hence there is no room for SiMn price downswings. But some producers may conduct fire sale to reclaim funds. Enquiries in export market increase yet prices are knocked down.
According to a Yunnan based trader, local electricity price may rise by CNY 0.08 per kwt to CNY 0.4 per kwh, pushing up SiMn costs by CNY 200 to CNY 400 per tonne. Guizhou, Hunan, Guangxi and Sichuan also face cost increases brought by electricity price upswings.
Northern producers are bothered by weather rather than electricity prices. Temperature has fallen near zero, dampening productions and transportations and decreasing market demand.
