Shagang lays foundation for 3500mm vide plate project

It is reported that Shagang Group held a laying ceremony of its 3500mm medium plate project as well as to celebrate the completion and commissioning of its Huasheng blast furnace energy conserve and emission cutting projects.

While the 3500mm medium plate project is also the key item to forge a coastal shipbuilding industrial base for Jiangsu. With total spending of CNY 3.8 billion, Shagang will shape it into a 1.5 million tonnes per year medium pate production line.

The Huasheng blast furnace technical-innovation project, the key engineering of Shagang energy conserve and emission cut campaign, represents the world's most advanced blast furnace. With total investment of CNY 1.8 billion the project would cut soot and dust emission by 15% or so and reduce energy consumption for per tonne steel by some 40% compared with the same kinds of domestic equipments.

The move indicates that the China top private steel mill has entered into a new stage in accelerating structure adjustment and transition. Shagang vaulted into World's Top 500 Steel Giants this year at No 444.
