Saturday, 24 Oct 2009

Buoyed by good response to its newly launched sports utility vehicle Fortuner in India Toyota Motor Corporation will increase its output by 60% from January 2010. The Indian unit Toyota Kirloskar Motors had initially planned a production of 500 units a month.

Mr Sandeep Singh deputy MD (Sales and Marketing) of Toyota Kirloskar Motor told PTI that “Fortuner is doing very good and we had to modify our plan for increasing production. We will increase it to 800 units every month by January next year.”

He added that the company had earlier planned to increase the output to 600 units every month by January next year.

Since its launch in August the company has so far sold about 1,200 units of the Fortuner in the Indian market.
