MMC Norilsk together with Russian ecology movement of the Greens held All Russia conference on improvement of the environmental legislation and the state control system in sphere of environmental control and nature resources on October 22nd 2009 to October 23rd 2009.
Representatives of the State Duma and Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, RF Administration of the President, the Government of the Russian Federation, federal executive authorities and their territorial bodies, legislative bodies of constituent entities of the Russian Federation, local authorities, scientific and public organizations as well as business communities took part in conference.
As it was stated at the conference, the MMC Norilsk Nickel adheres to principles of ecological accountability and does not conceal its ecological problems from the public, fruitfully cooperates with Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, public ecological organizations. Pursuant to requirements of the international commodity markets with a view of integration into universal rules MMC Norilsk Nickel introduced the system of ecological management incompliance with requirements of international standard ISO14001:2004.
Delegates spoke that reforming of the environmental legislation should be carried out in view of opinion and offers of business. In this connection forum participants noted fruitful activity of the largest industrial companies MMC Norilsk Nickel is among them.
To upgrade normative legal regulation and economic incentives in the field of environment protection and nature resources, to improve governmental management efficiency in this sphere, the participants of conference prepared a number of recommendations to the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Russian Federation.
