Mehr News Agency reported that Iran currently produces some 11 million tonnes of petrochemicals annually.
Mr Ali Salehabadi the president of Securities and Exchange Organization of Iran stated that about 6 million tonnes of petrochemical productions are sold domestically and the remaining 5 million are exported.
Mr Ali Salehabadi who was speaking on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of the Iranian Oil Bourse in Kish added that from the initial opening of the oil bourse in spring 2008 till September 2009 USD 3.5 billion have been transacted in this bourse. He expressed hope that with the opening of the international oil and petrochemical products stock exchange in Iran will gain the ability to determine petrochemical prices.
