Shagang plans to enlarge wire rod capacity in 2010

Jiangsu Shagang Group, the largest private steelmaker in China recently signed a purchasing contract of two sets of new wire rod mills with Siemens VAI Metals Technologies Limited. The contract has a worth of over euro 10m.

As per report, the tow mills will be delivered to the steelmaker differently in Q2 and Q3 2010 and applied in Shagang plaint in Zhangjiagang.

According to the contract, each mill is made up of a four stand PFM

1. A set of 10-stand NTM
2. A set of pinch roll and laying head
3. A binder bundling machine
4. Other accessories.

The report also added that 5.4mm to 16mm wire rod and 6mm to 16mm rebar are the designed products from the mills.

Shagang located at Zhangjiagang in Jiangsu is able to produce about 20 million tonnes per year of steel products, including rebar, wire rod, steel plates and HRC.
