Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure clears 3 highway projects

The Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure on Thursday approved three national highway development projects to be taken up under design build finance operate transfer basis. The three projects will be undertaken at an estimated cost of INR 2776 crore.

The projects include widening of 121 kilometer stretch in the Moradabad-Bareilly section at a cost of INR 1267 crore. The project will have a concession period of 25 years with a construction period of 30 months.

Another project is widening of 84 kilometer on the Barasat-Krishnanagar section in West Bengal to be taken up at a cost of INR 859 crore. The concession period is 24 years, including a construction period of 36 months.

The committee also approved the implementation of four laning of Rohtak-Bawal section of NH 71 in Haryana at an estimated cost of INR 650 crore.

The concessionaire will make all the expenditure to complete the project and will recover the same by user fee for 28 years including a construction period of 30 months.
