Visakha Steel Workers Union confident of total strike in RINL
Monday, 02 Nov 2009

BL reported that all the unions in Visakhapatnam Steel Plant have intensified campaign to make the November 4 strike a grand success.

Visakha Steel Workers’ Union, the recognized union of RINL’s VSP plant, boosted by INTUC deciding to take an active part in the strike, exuded confidence that it would be total.

VSWU has justified the decision to go on strike after rejecting the appeal from the management to withdraw their call.

The employees of VSP blamed the management for delaying wage revision and have appealed to the management to concede their demand for minimum guaranteed benefit of 28%, 78.2% DA merger and wage revision once in five years.

This is the first strike by the permanent workers demanding wage revision due since 34 months.
