Based on preliminary reporting by the Department of Commerce, American Institute for International Steel said that, US steel imports in September 2009 increased by 23.4% MoM over the depressed levels of August.
Mr David Phelps president of AIIS said that "Imports increased in September in response to improving prices and demand in August to September, as Canadian producers responded to the stronger market conditions with a nearly 50% increase in shipments to the US market."
